Bristol City Leap Advances Low-Carbon Upgrades Across Three Council Buildings
Bristol City Council is beginning a new phase of energy improvements at three council-owned properties through its Bristol City Leap programme. Three buildings selected for decarbonisation
The project covers Belbrook Children’s Respite Unit, Ridingleaze House and Symes House. The properties were selected because they rank among the 30 highest carbon emitters in Bristol City Council’s corporate estate and were considered suitable for support through the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme.
Ridingleaze House and Symes House, which support the council’s Children and Young People Services, will receive air source heat pumps alongside upgrades to pipework, radiators and control systems. These improvements are intended to replace ageing boiler infrastructure with lower-carbon heating and more efficient building operation.
Broader efficiency package at Belbrook
Belbrook, a short-break service for disabled children and their families, will receive the most extensive package. In addition to a new heat pump system, the building will gain a rooftop solar array, upgraded LED lighting and additional loft insulation.
The combination of measures is designed to reduce heat loss, lower electricity demand and improve comfort for service users and staff.
